High Park Addition

Basement 1335 sq.ft. | Ground 1335 sq.ft. | Second 798 sq.ft. | Third 376 sq.ft.

The existing 2.5 storey house was in need of some updates to bring it to modern living standards. A ground floor rear addition was designed to create an open concept family room and kitchen with a large roof lantern skylight and expansive rear windows. The mudroom and powder room were also reworked to increase functionality whilst the living and dining rooms were left untouched to maintain the existing character. The second floor was reconfigured to add an ensuite and walk-in closet to the primary bedroom along with linen storage in the hallway. Skylights were added to the third floor to open up the space and the basement gained a large storage room under the new addition. On the exterior, the rear addition was designed to complement the front of the house by using a cedar shake cladding and red brick base. A new deck walks out to the backyard. There’s also a new oversized shed that functions as a woodworking hobby shop but can be converted into a garage in the future. The board and batten siding along with shingles that match the main house enables the craftsman style shed to relate to the house.
